Mini Tummy Tuck

mini tummy tuck

A mini tummy tuck helps improve the appearance of the core area due to excess far and loose stretched out skin in the lower abdomen area.

This surgical body contouring procedure is available for both men and women, and offers an effective and less invasive surgical solution for patients whose conditions are not severe to warrant a complete abdominoplasty.

The Mini Tummy Tuck is for contour problems without as much loose skin as a standard abdominoplasty. The surgical procedure takes between 1-2 hours, and during the mini tummy tuck, our team will make a small incision directly above the pubic area. He will then cut and remove loose skin and may complete liposuction as well to remove excess fat in this region.

When comparing to a regular tummy tuck, the belly button does not require repositioning. our team closes the incisions using small sutures and small drains to effectively remove fluid buildup. Elastic bandages are applied to the surgical area.

What To Expect After Surgery

You are restricted to bed for 2 to 3 days with periods of walking. You will be “hunched over” significantly for the first week and slowly will be able to stand up straight. Coughing, laughing, sneezing or anything that exerts the abdominal muscles will produce discomfort. Positioning yourself when sleeping — you will either need to sleep in a recliner or place pillows under your legs when lying in bed to keep your body in an “L” formation.

Recovery

Patients undergoing a mini tummy tuck will need to wear a compression undergarment throughout the healing period which is typically between two and three weeks post-op. This recovery period is shorter than that of a traditional tummy tuck, with sutures removed after a few weeks of healing. Patients typically are able to return to work after 1-2 weeks, with light activity after 2-3 days. Strenuous activities should be avoided for one month.
