Skin Rejuvenation & Improved Hair Growth Using Your Own Blood

About

Autologous-Conditioned Plasma (ACP) has become a popular non-surgical procedure for facial and skin rejuvenation. ACP is a treatment which uses your own blood platelets to stimulate new cell growth, helping to improve your complexion, skin texture and to restore lost facial volume. ACP has also successfully been used to improve hair growth, whether for women’s thinning hair or for male pattern baldness.

Procedure

Your blood is essentially made up of four components; red blood cells, white blood cells, the plasma and the platelets. Platelets contain growth factors and are a specialised cell involved in injury healing and cell regeneration. We will draw your blood and then spin it in a centrifuge, which enables the separation of the blood cells from your plasma and platelets. We then capture the plasma layer from this centrifuge, which will contain up to eight times the naturally occurring level of platelets. We then re-inject this plasma, enriched with your own platelets, growth factors and natural stem cells, into your skin or scalp to stimulate collagen and new cell growth.

ACP Injections and Microneedling

ACP is often used in conjunction with microneedling to maximize the effectiveness of each treatment, as well as your recovery time. This service, popularly known as a vampire facial, is offered at Prime Med Spa. Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a procedure that uses fine needles to puncture the skin. This puncture creates a controlled injury that prods the body to produce collagen and other naturally occurring substances that will leave your skin looking fresh and rejuvenated. These micro-channels then create the perfect canvas for a ACP injection, allowing the Autologous-Conditioned Plasma (ACP) to be absorbed deep within the skin. By performing these therapies together, it provides the best way to smooth out wrinkles, reduce fine lines, fill out scars and fight stretch marks.

FAQ

What types of conditions can be treated by ACP?

Our practitioners have successfully treated patients with acne scars, injury scars, stretch marks, signs of aging such as wrinkles and loss of elasticity, hair thinning and male pattern baldness.

During your initial consultation, your provider will discuss with you whether ACP is a recommended treatment for the conditions you would like to improve, as well as the results you can expect given the specifics of your condition. Depending on your needs and goals, your provider may recommend that ACP be administered in conjunction with micro-needling, laser treatments, or followed up with age-correcting treatments such as Botox or dermal fillers.

Will the procedure be painful?

Most of our patients report a mild discomfort during the procedure. During your consultation, you can speak with your provider regarding options for minimizing pain during and after the procedure.

What should I expect after my treatment?

Most people will experience some mild to moderate swelling and tenderness in the area of treatment, redness or heat, and which are all common side effects and are part of the activation of your platelets. Because a volume of fluid has to be administered, swelling is inevitable. Bruising can occur and may take several days to disappear.

Are there any side effects from receiving ACP therapy?

This treatment uses your own blood, so there is maximum compatibility with your body.

How soon will I see results?

Most patients will require three treatments at four to six week intervals. The first thing people notice is an improvement in skin elasticity, texture and complexion. Collagen production and hair regrowth can take up to three months to occur and the results can differ depending on the individual. Because the injected product is 100% your own, factors such as smoking, stress and illness can affect results.  A series of three treatments can yield results for up to two years.

Are there any reasons why I can’t have ACP therapy?

Like the majority of cosmetic procedures, ladies who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive are not suitable candidates. This treatment is not recommended for people receiving anticoagulation treatment, people with autoimmune conditions, people suffering any type of cancer or who have certain implants in the treatment area. Your past and present medical history, as well as your past cosmetic history will be assessed to determine your suitability.
